Christmas Market Dream Route 2: Freiburg-Augsburg-Regensburg-Würzburg

Germany has a long history of rich Christmas traditions that live on today through its festive holiday markets.  Twinkling lights, Old World crafts, musical programs, and tempting aromas entice visitors’ senses.  Spend some time exploring the spectacular ancient, medieval, and Renaissance cities on our itineraries, noteworthy any time of year but particularly special adorned in their holiday finery.

Historic Highlights of Germany has compiled this itinerary as the second leg of four regional tours of the country that will allow you to experience the best of its Christmas markets, cheerful atmosphere, and unique yuletide traditions. Be sure to peruse the other three regional Dream Routes, because portions of each can be connected for a customized experience. Or combine all four for a trip that will take you all the way around Germany with stops in 14 cities.
The first Dream Route explores the exciting region around the Rhine, Mosel and Neckar Rivers with visits to Koblenz, Trier, Mainz (with a side-trip to Wiesbaden) and Heidelberg.

In this itinerary, Dream Route 2, you continue to southwestern Germany and the Black Forest and on through Bavaria as you visit Freiburg, Augsburg, Regensburg and Würzburg.
