Thuringian Forest

The Thuringian Forest is one of Germany's most densely forested landscapes.

 
With the 104-mile Rennsteig and plenty of other well-marked hiking trails, it is the ideal place for an active holiday. The Thuringian Forest is best known as an area for walking, cycling and skiing, but other worthwhile attractions are the glass-works at Lauscha and the Toy Museum in Sonneberg.
