Attractive nearby destinations include the castle complexes of Schwetzingen and Bruchsal, the medieval city of Ladenburg with Roman excavations, the cathedral towns of Speyer and Worms, the cities of Michelstadt and Erbach in the Odenwald, the Hockenheim speedway, and the hamlets of Neckargemünd and Neckarsteinach, which can be reached from Heidelberg by ship.
