Salt storehouses

Salt storehouses

The salt storehouses (16th-17th century) are located next to the Holsten Gate. They were used to store the "white gold" brought by the people of Lübeck from Lüneburg and then transported on to Scandinavia. In those days, salt was used to preserve food. Today, the gabled brick buildings house a fashion store.
