St. Katharine's Church

The mendicant order church from the 14th century is a masterpiece of Gothic architecture. The niches in the stern brick façade hold the now famous figure frieze by Ernst Barlach and Gerhard Marcks. The interior, with its impressive high choir, harbors exceptional works of art, including the monumental painting "Awakening of Lazarus" by the Venetian painter Tintoretto.
