Lübeck's Harbor and City Tour by BoatLübeck's Old Town is an island, and a scenic boat cruise takes barely an hour to make a complete "circumnavigation". Passenger boats - flat to fit under the many bridges - start near the Holsten Gate and make their way past sailing ships and the former cruise terminal just far enough down the Trave River to give a breathtaking view of the seven-steeple skyline. The tour continues along the Trave Canal past the old city fortress, old mills and the medieval city wall before passing the scenic "Painter's Corner" with its postcard-perfect view of the Cathedral and merchant homes. Just past the Salt Storehouses, the Holsten Gate comes into view, and the tour is over.
