Travemünde by Boat

It's easy to get to Travemünde. Express buses leave as often as twice an hour from the Old Town and trains almost as often from the railway station.  It's a half-hour journey.  In at least one direction, travel to Travemünde by ship.

The 90-minute cruise starts in Lübeck's historic harbor in the reflection of merchant homes and church steeples. The boat follows the Trave River past the city harbor and piers quickly to the Schellbruch Bird Sanctuary and the historic fishing village of Gothmund.

The cruise continues past the Dummersdorfer Ufer Nature Preserve, and Travemünde comes into sight. Travemünde is the largest ferry port on the Baltic, and giant ships will likely pass by us on their journeys to Scandinavian ports.

From a different time, the four-masted barque Passat is tied up right next to our boat landing, so you can choose to visit the museum ship or stroll along the Promenade and beach and through the Old Town before returning to Lübeck by boat, bus or train.
