In the middle of the 18th century, the princes of Thurn and Taxis created a magnificent castle here built around a former 8th-century monastery.

In the middle of the 18th century, the princes of Thurn and Taxis, founders of the first large-scale postal service in Europe (15th century), created a magnificent castle here built around a former 8th-century monastery. The palace's public and residential apartments, which contain many magnificent 19th-century furnishings as well as some brought from the family's older residences. It's marvelous to see this palace, which is said to have more rooms than Buckingham Palace.

German guided tours of the palace and cloisters (Duration approx. 1 ½ hour)April - October: Daily at 11 a.m., 2, 3 and 4 p.m.
Saturday, Sunday holidays Additional tour at 10 a.m.

November - March:

Special guided tours in foreign languages on request
Entrance fee: 11.50 € p.p.

Thurn and Taxis Museum
Branch of the National Museum of Bavaria in the Palace of the Princes of Thurn und Taxis featuring art collections of the Thurn und Taxis dynasty. Displayed are works of gold- and silversmiths, watchmakers and gunsmiths, porcelain, glasses and jewellery from the 17th to the 19th centuries.

Entrance fee: 4.50 €, children up to 6 free entry
