Maritime Simulation Center

Care to steer a colossus out of the harbor safely into the Baltic? Where navigators and ships' officers learn their difficult craft, inexperienced seafarers can also try their luck at the Maritime Simulation Center.

The Maritime Simulation Center is the only one worldwide that combines the simulation of nautical and technical ship operation with the shore-based support. It was built for the education of the maritime seagoing personnel (ship officers) and provides an excellent basis for research and development. Visible for miles, the round building stands in the seaside resort of Warnemünde, large enough to house four bridges of ocean-going ships. Spread across three floors, it contains all the technology needed on board a ship. Reproductions indeed, but they feel deceptively close to reality. Guided visits of the Simulation Center present a look at primary maneuvering scenarios.

Care to try your own hand at steering a colossus safely out of the harbor into the Baltic as the helmsman? Where navigators and ships' officers learn their difficult craft, inexperienced seafarers can also try their luck. It looks so simple to put a giant ship under way with a mouse click, but.... The ferry is coming towards you, a sailing vessel crosses your path. Full speed ahead? Or?
