The current highlight in the Rostock fair and conference world is called the Rostock Hanse Fair.
The Mecklenburg-Vorpommern state trade fair center, based on the design of a Hamburg architect's office, was officially opened in the spring of 2002. Flooded with light, the building ensemble of glass, wood and metal opens new perspectives to Rostock and the state, particularly in the age of trade fairs. But the space and ambience, from presentation through to banquet, is also suitable for congresses, conferences and functions.
The ambience was given a special atmosphere by embedding the Hanse Messe (Hanse Fair) in the IGA 2003 (international horticultural exhibition) site. Today the fair is located beside the IGA Park.
The fascinating building complex includes a 100,000-square-foot exhibition hall, an open exhibition ground of twice that size and a conference rotunda. Six halls, named after the Hanseatic towns in our area, offer a maximum of 470 seats. The air-conditioned rooms, which can be blacked out, offer up-to-date facilities, ranging from video and picture projection to simultaneous translation or recording facilities. Video conferencing is also an option.
The same facilities are also available at the Rostock Stadthalle, a significant address for national and international congresses and party conferences at the Hanseatic city. The largest hall offers a congress capacity of 1,100 seats in a parliamentary arrangement.
