Between the picturesque landscape of the Rhine and Mosel and surrounded by four low mountain ranges, come and explore the 2000-year-old town of Koblenz. Its abundance of cultural monuments and historical buildings, the cozy little lanes and alleyways, the relaxed and happy atmospheres of its squares and river promenades make Koblenz a sympathetic town where its guests feel right at home.
Wandering through Koblenz will give you an idea of its fascinating character: romantic little lanes and historical squares intermingled with shops, restaurants and cozy taverns. A walk from the market place "Florinsmarkt" to the "Münzplatz" Square and from there on to "Jesuitenplatz" will take you past beautifully restored shops and offices, the churches "Florinkirche" and "Liebfrauenkirche" and numerous cultural monuments along the way.
In-between, take a break in one of the original wine bars or sit in the open air and relax and enjoy the sights around you. From here it is only few steps to the banks of the Rhine or the Mosel and experience of strolling along the promenade amidst a wonderful landscape.
Extensive promenades, wonderful walking routes, cycling tracks along the Rhine and Mosel, water sports, golf, riding, swimming and whatever else you need to get your heart and circulation going - the town itself, the mountains and the river valleys around Koblenz all offer the ideal setting for an active holiday in particularly scenic and stimulating surroundings.
And for those who prefer to take it easy, there are innumerable possibilities for relaxing body and soul in Koblenz's mild climate.
In 2002 the UNESCO ranked the upper Middle Rhine valley one of the most beautiful and oldest man-made landscapes, among the world cultural heritages.
The chain of castles and palaces along the steep slopes, where the famous Rhine wines are grown, stretches from the ancient Roman town of Koblenz to the legendary Loreley and continues to the cities of Rüdesheim and Bingen.
